Comparison of GIF and JPG pictures

Here are five examples, three GIF files and two JPG files. GIF pictures allow transparent colors (example # 2). Example # 3 uses a technique called "anti-aliasing" to improve the curves. JPG pictures allow you to change the quality---the fourth example has much higher quality (and also file size) than the fifth. The sizes of the pictures are 167KB, 183KB, 157KB, 168KB, respectively 19KB.
