This Excel sheets contains data about the temperatures at different locations (LA, Anchorage, Geneva, Milano) during a years 1995 or 2006.

a) Compute averages for the different cities in the different years. Also compute standard deviations. Consider the data to be sample data. Also compute monthly averages and standard deviations. Graph the monthly averages for the seven different data sets.

b) Compute the regression lines for each one of the four 1995 data sets for data between February,1 and July 31. Compute the deviations of the temperatures from these regression lines.

c) Is the weather in Geneva and Milan correlated? Why would the ordinary correlation coefficient for the two data sets not be sufficient to answer this question? Could the data computed in (b) be helpful?

d) How large deviations would you expect in a city on a day to day basis? Consider the data computed in (a) and (b) and consider their relevance for answering this question.

e) Test the hypothesis of global warming by comparing 1995 data and 2006 data. Again consider the data to be sample data.
