Warm-Up 2, Due Monday, September 1, 23:59.

Warm-up questions usually either address material we handled during last class, or material you were to read in preparation for class, or you are supposed to answer questions based on your common sense alone. Please answer each question in three or more sentences. It is OK to answer 'I don't know' - but try to tell me why you are confused! No late Warm Ups are accepted for any reason, and only those submitted electronically through this web page (or by email, if the web page has technical problems) are considered.
Your Name:

Question 1

Your friend calls you on the cell phone. During your conversation, the connection breaks down. What do you do: Dial your friend's number or wait until he or she calls you back? Remember---if you both dial at the same time then you won't get a connection.

If you formulate this as a game, what are the players and what are the players' options?

Would it change something if you can see each other, say over a large river, but cannot hear each other without phones?

Question 2

You get the following email:
"Dear Sir. Walking through Lugano, I saw the nice blueish flowers in fromt of your house. I would love to have one of them, and would be willing to pay any price between SFR 1 and SFR 10 for it. Just tell me how much you want for it. However, I saw this flower also in the garden of someone else, and sent her the same email. Of course I will buy the flower where it is cheaper. Sincerely, Erich Prisner"
You go outside and see the flowers in question: You have about 1000 of them. So one of them is rather worthless to you, and everybody else, except, it seems, to the writer of the mail. How do you respond? How much money do you want for the flower?

Would it change something if you knew who the other person with the same flowers in her garden is? Explain. this.
